Rowan University Physics Lab

Architecture
Glassboro, NJ

JZA+D was commissioned by Rowan University to create a new physics laboratory from two existing spaces — a lab and a lounge — on the first floor of Science Hall. The lab is dedicated to optics research. The new lab required a 5’ x 8’ Optics table, with a blackout curtain for user isolation. Above the table is a unistrut system with compressed air. Also required were two new 4-foot fume hoods, a new glassware storage cabinet, sink, drying rack, and emergency eyewash and shower. Services include gases, vacuum, compressed air and de-ionized water. Gases were argon, nitrogen, and natural gas.

JZA+D was selected by Rowan University to be on its list of pre-approved professional consultants providing on-call architectural and interior design services. Additional projects recently completed for Rowan by JZA+D include renovation and reconfiguration of the Reading Room and Circulation Areas in Campbell Library, remodeling of six offices in Science Hall, and renovation of the Admissions Office.
