JZA+D breathed new life into an unassuming detached storage room and car port, converting the structure into a 1,000 square foot guest house and enclosed garage for this Hudson River Valley home. Employing efficiency-of-space as a key tenant of the project, JZA+D created a new bedroom, bathroom and living/dining space adjacent to a concealed kitchenette.

Exhibiting the creativity of the client themselves, the living room wall also features recessed niches to showcase the homeowners’ own pottery and original art. Inviting and pleasantly accommodating, the new guest house fits neatly within the natural landscape of the property.
